Tamanna Kalhar studied English Literature at The University of Leicester. She is a former deputy editor of 'Red Pepper', a socialist publication drawing on feminist, green and libertarian politics.

She works as a press officer in the charity sector. In 2015 she travelled to Central African Republic to gather testimonies of survivors of the civil war. 

She currently resides in the foothills of the North Downs, where the last woman to be hanged in the UK used to live.
